More to Illinois than meets the eye

Visitors to Illinois will find the state offers big-city attractions, world-class historical sites and a healthy dose of American history. From Chicago, the hub of the Midwest, to the state capital of Springfield and beyond, Illinois has it all. But Illinois is more than just the well known skyscrapers of Chicago. Take a bus, charter bus, coach bus, party bus, mini bus, passenger coach or school bus chartered from Bus Charter Illinois and travel through the state in style and comfort as you go on a journey to discover some of the lesser known attractions in the state.
Wrigley Field in Chicago, the home field of the Cubs, is America's second-oldest Major League Baseball park, and easily accessible by charter bus. The field was built in 1914 and has hosted historical baseball moments, such as Babe Ruth's called shot. The shot occurred during the 1932 World Series when Ruth allegedly pointed to center field before hitting a homerun into the same area. Today, charter bus visitors can either catch a game at the field or take a guided tour. Tours typically include visits to the clubhouses, dugouts and press box. Charter bus visitors sometimes get to walk on the field, depending on team training schedules and field maintenance.
While you’re in the Windy City in your charter bus, visit the Art Institute of Chicago. This museum ranks as the nation's second largest and holds works by Edward Hopper, Grant Wood and Georges Seurat. Besides its permanent collection, charter bus visitors can explore rotating exhibitions. Past examples include a display of early French Renaissance art and artifacts from the Silk Road. The museum opens for charter bus visitors seven days each week and offers free family days twice a month.
Springfield, located in central Illinois, features several historical attractions for charter bus visitors interested in learning about Abraham Lincoln. The Old State Capitol Plaza allows charter bus visitors to tour a reconstructed version of a statehouse that served as the state's political center from 1839 to 1876. Lincoln worked in the building while serving in the state House of Representatives. Guided tours are available. Also in Springfield, charter bus visitors in Illinois should visit the Lincoln Tomb at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The tomb holds Lincoln, his wife and three of their sons. The site stands 117 feet tall and consists of rooms decorated in bronze-trimmed marble.
Take your charter bus and pay a visit to the Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site, which features the remains of a large, prehistoric settlement. It is recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization as a World Heritage Site. The site spans 2,200 acres outside of Collinsville, near the Illinois/Missouri border. The Mississippian people who inhabited the site built homes, as well as religious and public works structures. Charter bus visitors can take guided tours of the still-intact structures, and the grounds also feature an interpretive center where charter bus visitors can learn more about the site.
