On the road in Illinois

America is the home of car culture, and nowhere is this more apparent than when traveling in Illinois in your charter bus, coach bus, party bus, mini bus, passenger coaches or school bus hired from Bus Charter Illinois. So it would come as no surprise to find, in the depths of Illinois the Historic Auto Attractions Museum in Roscoe, Illinois.
Historic Auto Attractions is the brainchild of one man, businessman Wayne Lensing. This self made man, who began his career as an auto assembly line worker, today runs several successful business concerns that take up most of his time. But in the late 1990s, on a whim, he bought a limousine once owned by the eccentric billionaire and genius aviator, Howard Hughes. Much to his surprise, he found the car to be an attraction to others, and decided to open a museum so that he could properly display it.
Having the staff, resources, facilities and land on which to build such a museum, Wayne did just that. Acquiring all the exhibits currently on display in the Historic Auto Attractions Museum didn’t come cheap, but Wayne cast a critical eye on the vehicles and memorabilia he was collecting. They had to have a cultural or historical significance, and the collection isn’t just confined to vehicles, in spite of the museum’s name.
As you get off your charter bus, you will enter a 30,000 square foot building that holds an eclectic collection of historic vehicles, movie props and costumes, historically or culturally significant items of furniture, all of which hold a place in the collective memory of America. One of the museum’s significant collections is “World Leaders”. This collection holds vehicles used or ridden in by some of the world’s greatest leaders and dictators. Wayne can tell you for a fact that the bullet proof glass used in Josef Stalin’s 1937 Packard 12 is 2 inches thicker than the glass in Evita Peron’s Roll-Royce Silver Wraith. And the reason Wayne can tell you this is because both vehicles are here on display in his collection. American Presidents are no less well represented, with vehicles used by Presidents Reagan, Nixon, Grant, Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, and Johnson on display.
The museum also holds an extensive collection of John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis memorabilia, along with items from various people and locations connected with the assassination of JFK. The original window from the Texas Book Depository is on display here, and visitors can look through it to see a miniature diorama of street as it would have been at the moment Lee Harvey Oswald took the shot.
Also on display are famous racing cars and vehicles, movie and TV vehicles, a White House display and a recent addition, the Abraham Lincoln Room, which holds exhibits and artifacts connected with President Lincoln.

Pedal to the metal in Illinois

Illinois is often noted as being a microcosm of the entire country. Travelling by party bus, coach charter, bus charter, mini bus rental, or a school bus across Illinois then is very much like travelling across the United States. With all that travelling involved, one could say that we’re a nation of automobile lovers.
One unique landmark in Illinois is the Volo Auto Museum. Located in the Chicaco suburb of Volo, this automobile museum is part of a larger antique mall containing exhibits of collectors' autos from vintage to modern classics. Another unique feature of this party bus tourist attraction museum is that many of the vehicles on display (in four large buildings) are for sale!
The exhibits focus on American cars from the 1950-1960 period as well as movie cars. There’s also a military-oriented "Armed Forces Exhibit.
The museum also features cars (some original and many replicas) from notable television shows and movies such as KITT from Knight Rider; The Bluesmobile from The Blues Brothers; The General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard (television show); the police car from RoboCop III; a replica DeLorean from Back to the Future; a replica DRAG-U-LA from The Munsters; Christine from Christine; various cars from The Fast and the Furious; Hannibal Twin-8 from The Great Race; replica van from Scooby-Doo; replica (Don Currie-built) Batmobile of TV's Batman; 18-wheel tractor-trailer (Trailer is labeled "(S)Laughter is the best medicine") driven by the Joker in The Dark Knight; Gotham City police cruiser from The Dark Knight; moped used by Peter Parker in Spider-Man; the Ferrari Daytona replica driven by Don Johnson in Miami Vice; a Mercury Marauder signed by Parnelli Jones, and built as a "Super Muscle Car" custom at Barry's Speed Shop in California; a model of the "Cars" character Doc Hudson. It would leave an inexplicable memory in your mind that you can definitely treasure long after the bus tour vacation is over.
Some of the vehicles referred to by the museum as "star cars" are available for purchase and beginning November 9 2012, there will be a celebrity car auction which includes the last car owned by comedy legend Groucho Marx, Princess Diana’s armor plated Rolls Royce and rocker Jon Bon Jovi’s personal BMW 745i. It's something to think about when you are relaxing and waiting to get to your next destination in the charter bus, party bus, shuttle bus or school bus that you are using.
This stopover is a must for any petrol head and who knows, you might arrive on a Bus Charter Illinois bus but you may end up driving one of these collectibles home.
